Setting proper goals is one of the key steps to casting vision for your future. In this session we will delve into the future looking specifically at both short term and long term goals – We start the session off by asking these questions: “What does success mean to you?” “Where do you see yourself in five years?” “How successful will you be?” We then properly define what “a goal” is; how do “tasks” relate to goals; what are “values” and how do they relate to accomplishing goals. We will complete two short worksheets that we highly recommend both the student and instructor/coach keep (to monitor progress). We end by sharing “Ten Steps” to successfully accomplishing your goals.

Unfortunately in this modern day society, our young men and women are bombarded with the following: “Live for the moment and don’t worry about tomorrow or the consequences;” “Live based upon your wants/desires, as opposed to your needs/necessities”. This session looks to shoot down those mindsets from the opening tap. We start by stating the somewhat obvious – “The decisions you make today (financial in particular) will have a direct impact on your future lifestyle!” We address the importance of living based upon your needs and not your wants and desires. Each student will complete a budget worksheet entitled, “Can you make it on your own?” This session is very interactive and gets them to start thinking about making smart decisions when it comes down to budgeting their money.

This session will be very helpful in organizing and developing your most important professional communication tool…your RESUME! This program is applicable for those entering the professional “9 to 5” world soon, or several years down the line. The ingredients to having a good, sound resume changes from time to time.  Participants will learn the basics to compiling a “winning resume.”  We will dissect the resume, piece by piece, during this session and when the participants leave they will leave with the knowledge and ability to construct a “door opening functional resume.” Students will also receive handouts to take with them.

The interview process can cause all sorts of anxiety – from the time you realize you have one, up until the time you sit in that “hot chair” during your interview. This session focuses on what we call “the little things” to having a successful interviewing experience.  We will stress the importance of creating “a positive environment” for you to excel in during the entire interviewing process.  We will go from preparation, to what to bring, to what to wear and how to follow-up in this exciting and interactive session. This program will prepare students for any type of formal meetings, from job interviews to meetings.

Besides reading and writing, learning how to properly communicate, verbally and non-verbally, in all types of situations is critical to ones overall success. This component will help our youth learn the basics of interpersonal skills, effective ways to communicate (verbally & non-verbally), and building rapport. We will also identify communication styles (expressive, technical, sympathetic or bold). This is an important component that will help trouble-shoot communication problems.

The issue of Alcohol & Drug use and abuse is tackled head on in this session. We provide facts, testimonies and offer a life-altering plan that will help steer participants away from alcohol & drug dependency. Is the use and abuse worth your present? Is it worth your future? Is it worth your life? These are some of the questions that will be answered by every participant.

In a “straight-up” discussion with our presenter, an Ex-Police Officer,
we provide facts, stories and testimonies that will inspire students to protect themselves from the damaging affects of “gang life.” At the conclusion of the workshop, students and/or parents will possess valuable information on all the things to look out for in order to steer clear from gangs. Students will realize that life in a gang is not worth their present, nor future. We also provide
this workshop to parents/adults so that they can be made aware of the things to look out for in terms of Gang Life & Gang Involvement.
